Laurea Active Life Village

Laurea Otaniemi is a unit of expertise in welfare and entrpreneurship, operating in the Active Life Village in Otaniemi, Espoo. The same facility contains eight welfare companies and units of the City of Espoo.

The Otaniemi unit teaches Business Management, Nursing and Social Services in Finnish and English, as well as Physiotherapy in Finnish. It also offers two Master's degrees. There are 900 students of nearly 20 nationalities.

Laurea Otaniemi contains the Laurea Business Ventures entrepreneurship and business development unit, where studies are completed either to develop the students' own business ideas or through development projects carried out for local businesses. Welfare students learn to know their sector through projects, growing into responsible experts through their studies.

The Active Life Village contains four research labs that develop innovative solutions to support human well-being; there, students, customers, experts and researchers work together in genuine collaboration. Development partners include service and technology companies in the field of welfare, public and third sector organisations, and other customers. The most famous innovation produced until now by the unit is the two-way TV service Caring TV.
